In his animation class, students first learn to understand the relationship between the fun characters and environments they see in their favorite shows, movies, and video games and how they are created using math, geometry, the Cartesian plane, physics, anatomy, art, and design. Then, taking some of the topics they've studied in class, they create a short story, learn to create storyboards, then using the storyboards they work towards having a simple animation by the end of the class. In his Film and Photography class, students learn photography and film techniques including shutter speed and aperture value (reciprocity), composition and framing, the rule of thirds, types of shots, continuity, lighting, etc. The students then use these techniques to act out and film skits they've created based on topics studied in their classes.
